Today's archidose #278
Here's a few shots of High School #9 (aka the Central Los Angeles High School for the Visual and Performing Arts) in Los Angeles, California by Coop Himmelb(l)au. Photographs are by andrewmalick.
Looking northwest down Hollywood Freeway, the school is on the right, across from Rafael Moneo's Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
As humorously seen from the Cathedral's plaza.
And looking southeast from Grand Avenue.

ReplyDeleteInteresting. I drove by that building the other day. I was wondering what it was.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the inside pics?
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the angels propping up the school's tower. I would like to see more intellectual design in public school architecture, although not at the sacrifice of education. Of course, decisions to build this high school were made in different times, but as of today it seems filling this school with teachers might be a stretch.

Wow, that interior shot is clever.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if the two buildings are having a discussion.
