A Notable Book of 2011

I'm happy to report that my Guide to Contemporary New York City Architecture is on Justin Davidson's list of Notable Books of 2011 at Designers & Books. Davidson, the architecture critic for New York Magazine, selected twelve titles for the list, which also includes The Agile City by James Russell, Design with the Other 90%: Cities by Cynthia Smith, Living in the Endless City edited by Ricky Burdett and Deyan Sudjic, Project Japan by Rem Koolhaas and Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Reveal by Jeanne Gang, among others.

Justin Davidson is accompanied by Wendy Goodman, Julie Lasky, Paul Makovsky, Daijiro Mizuno, Phil Patton, Maria Popova, Rick Poynor, and Alissa Walker in assembling the grand list of 63 Notable Books of 2011 at Designers & Books. (In the screenshot above, my book is in the top-right quadrant, tucked nicely between Groundwork and High Line, below the 50th anniversary edition of Death and Life of Great American Cities, and above Living in the Endless City.) Given this roster the list is quite varied, ranging from architectural monographs to exhibition catalogs to lavishly illustrated coffee table books to Star Wars blueprints. It's well worth a browse.
