ugly
ReplyDeleteI love the museum in Dallas. That glass section is pretty cool
ReplyDeletethis is great ...what you are doing...am a student of architecture in the university of nairobi..kenya (2nd year) and interested in starting an architecture blog....pls advice as i really like what you do here...
ReplyDeleteThe Perot Museum looks amazing. great lines.
ReplyDeletethe masse besel.....I love construction shots alot, but I'm more excited to see this building when it's completed.
Ugly is right - all of it.
ReplyDeleteMorphosis has an uncanny ability to produce buildings that are so baffling and forbidding looking that they resemble something built by some sinister alien civilization. Ick.
People complain too much. Although aesthetics are important, one must realize geniuses like Mayne design on a whole other spectrum. It's amusing when some people think they can truly grasp what these designers have produced, and follow with an uneducated attack. Very pathetic.
ReplyDeleteThe textures and patterns on 3/4 sides are gorgeous. I'm not a big fan of the 2D cutout screen in the last few images. Not sure it works with the project, or that it is more than gratuitous ornament with a flair for deflecting sunlight.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Erick that without understanding the context, site, and program, you can't read into the lack of boring glass box that Mayne has designed. Yes this project is intrusive, but beauty doesn't mean blending into the background; it's starkness and differentiation are what make it beautiful.
