I suppose this is as lovely as a large institutional building can be, but there is something jarring about the idea of pulling out an old volume of wordsworth or ginsburg and, you know, really getting into while seated in that prim apple-retailish book display room.
ReplyDeleteIts probably a fatal flaw in the entire program of trying to combine Poetry with Foundation, and this building is probably a relatively benign result, but I can't help thinking about how much more poetry would have been spread if that cash had been used to underwrite, say, poets instead...
Oh,posh. Good architecture is good architecture. I'd rather read poetry there than a musty library, or almost anywhere for that matter.
