I think that location would require a bit different design but MAD would be up to the task.<br />The city really does need to solve the mass transit access to this area that should be a priority also.Charlesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6531343.post-53371910778304152342014-11-10T11:53:37.228-05:002014-11-10T11:53:37.228-05:00The just released concept / design for the new Luc...The just released concept / design for the new Lucas Museum in Chicago is just the wrong direction from a planning standpoint. The Michael Reese Hospital Site is right there, perfect in every way. (remember the big idea to make it olympic housing) Stuffing this museum in to an already congested area just adds to traffic, parking, service problems. There is no 'air' left to this portion of lakefront and zero flex space for events at Soldier Field and convention center. (see what is done at ATT Stadium in Texas - this is the future of big events) Lucas has to have waterfront access, the solution is so obvious (attached), let the building bridge from Michael Reese to lakefront! Worries about not being fully connected to the other museum and aquarium, I don't know, maybe build a space age monorail going around McCormick and Soldier Field! Tying things together and gaining more parking from south side! Wouldn't it be nice to visit all buildings (soldier, convention included) in February by a sleek monorail?! Sounds like a lovely afternoon during Chicago's winter. We got to get this thing turned around people.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14701812707437962007noreply@blogger.com
