No kidding?

The American Institute of Architects has announced the ten candidates for "the Institute’s next first vice president/president-elect, vice presidents, and secretary, [elections to be] held in May at the 2005 AIA National Convention and Design Expo in Las Vegas."

As an "accurate" representation of our profession, ten white males are in the running:
Unfortunately this isn't an April Fool's joke.

  1. And only one bowtie on show!

This is a disgraceful turn of events.

That said, my vote is definately for the dude on the far left. Goatees are so very now.

It would be interesting to see what books are in each candidates library... I wonder if any of them have a copy of SMLXL or a book on Corb.

If it is any consolation, in NSW, Australia we onto our second female Institute President and they have both been grossly uninspiring professional leaders.

  2. If hair were a deciding factor in voting (and who's to say it isn't?), I would go for the man in the middle, RK Stewart. His white-gray hair/goatee combination definitely says, "I'm the man for the job."

  3. The guy in the middle goatee and silver strands does look like the weekend Harley rider, and also look uncomfortable in his suit....bleh a bunch of architect suits

  4. How about the guy with the bald head and big ears? Quite a commanding appearence.

It's not a good sign to be wearing a name tag in a popularity contest.

  7. No way are any of them gay. They're not nearly snappy enough dressers! I wouldn't trust 2nd left with my kids though.
