Millennium Park Model
Somebody with a heck of a lot of free time on their hands built a highly-detailed and very well crafted model of Millennium Park.

Gehry's Bandshell

Plesna's Crown Fountain

Kapoor's Cloud Gate
Just kidding. These aren't photos of a model. Actually, Architecture Talker KevinS sent me some photos of Millennium Park that he took from a roof overlooking the park on Michigan Avenue. They seemed like perfect shots to try out this fake model photography method.

I knew there had to be at least a little Photoshop involved when there wasn’t the reflection of an enormous camera lens in the cloud gate.
ReplyDeleteIt's called tilt-shift and it seems to have gotten fairly popular in the photography circles. Photoshop now has that capability. HDR photographs are also the cat's meow.
ReplyDeleteCurse you, John! I probably spent two hours at work today just browsing the *tiltshift*-tagged images on flickr. Awesome stuff (some of it).
ReplyDeleteYep, the cloud gate should give it all away, what with the reflected high-rises. But the first two really had me going, especially the fountain splash detail in the second image. Was this your first attempt with the technique?
Anyway, thanks for posting this. Now I have to buy Photoshop!
