425 Park Avenue
I'm at the MAS Summit today (visit my twitter feed for some occasional updates), where renderings and models for the 425 Park Avenue invited competition are on display. Norman Foster's winning design was unveiled a couple weeks ago, but I had yet to see the designs of the three other competitors—Zaha Hadid, OMA, Richard Rogers. So here they are.

OMA was definetly the best form... Foster's and Roger's have the same form and principals but surely the Foster one looks more elegant.
ReplyDeleteNorman Foster! Love it. The other ones are also nice.
ReplyDeleteHadid's is glorious.
ReplyDeletehadid is like a piece of shit
ReplyDeleteFoster's proposal might be 'just' ok .. for Dubai, south east asia, Mumbai - where the skyscraper is still beginning to evolve and the 'roof element' shines across the skyline ... but why does Manhattan need those 3 ugly antennas on top!!? what was he thinking??
ReplyDeleteHADID..NEW FUTURE ICONIC BUILDING
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Zaha has a great parti, but totally drops the ball on the execution. Why is the base completely devoid of the 'aperture' corner move? Would you even be able to see this from the street? It would be awesome if one dipped low enough to become the main building entrance- where you actually enter through the cavity! God forbid you let her BUILD something, she can't detail worth a damn and has no grit to withstand perils of the CA process.
